Top 6 Calf Training Mistakes

Calf training can be a real bitch. I have watched guys bang out set after set after set on the their gym's calf machines...and still walk around on a couple of skinny drumsticks.

On the other hand, the largest set of calves I ever saw was on this giant obese monster of a man - about 6'6" and he must have weighed 400 lbs of mostly goo.

Except for his calves - ENORMOUS and all muscle....very weird.

This article is pretty much 'broscience' bs.

The reason most people have small calves is because they 'bounce' when doing calf exercises. They're using almost entirely stretch-reflex to move the weight back up.

All you need to do for proper calf training is pause for 2-3 seconds at the bottom and hold for a second at the top.

The only useful thing this mentions is seated vs standing variations, which both need to be done typically.

Also, the calves in that picture have a subtitle that says "These calves were not built with calf-training mistakes".

You're right, they were built with steroids.

It's a good article for noobs. They think they can get decent calves from throwing in a couple sets for 15 reps once a week. For someone who doesn't really know what they are doing, this post is a wake-up call as to what it takes to really force their calves to improve, other than steroids.
