The Definition of Lean Gains | Intermittent fasting

Results of my bulking success with Martin Berkhan's LeanGains Intermittent Fasting. Most people cut with IF, but this is a different look at the setup.

I saw this result some months ago on his personal site, very impressive, 24 lbs weight increase and almost no fat or with fat loss (also on his blog he describes his experience )

This is great info. I'm planning on using intermittent fasting during a cutting phase, but now I'm starting to think about trying to follow it up with a lean bulk also using IF. Not sure how it will work but ima read up on it to be ready.

Thanks FLo_, actually up about 12-15 more pounds now and plan to transition into a maintenance/cut phase with IFing. Plan on doing an update with some more progress pics and some changes I have made to my training (very little) and diet.

awesome, I would like to see another article from you, also give us some insights about your training and diet (more detailing if you can ^_^ ) so now you are somewhere around 179?
I also will start a bulking phase from next monday and I made my plan on using leangains with some strengh training

Yeah I am sitting around 180..Hit around 183 the other day but transitioning into maintenance and now doing cardio through some ice hockey and roller hockey since I can not stand regular cardio. I'll post the article here once I do an update.

Yes, very impressive. I was wondering how he set-up the diet and training. I know he used the guide, just curious to see the numbers. I think Martin overfed by a lot when he did it.

yeah probably he could do that because he was very skinny at the begining of the leangains and newbie exerciser so he could loose fat and gain muscle preety easy even with normal diet and strengh training, curious how much the "fasted" training and protocol influenced his gains

Yeah I was essentially a newbie after about 3 to 4 months off. Before that I was heavily involved with heavy strength training since around 14 years old where I weight trained for football, baseball, and hockey. Then in college at Penn State I continued strength training for cheerleading. So I had a base before I lost all my weight and also understood strength training and a lot of nutrition from previous years experience so it mightve helped having some muscle memory if there is such a thing.

yeah you are right
and yes many good ol' bodybuilders as they age , they rely more on muscle memory, because it's easyer to maintain something you have then to force the specific adaptation, so an example is Frank Zane ( as he stated, he doesn't train with heavy weights anymore and rely mostly on muscle memory ) , and many others, they don't get up on my mind right now...

I read before that some Eastern European powerlifts (or maybe bodybuilders) used to train heavily for a few months, then take a few months off to lose adaptions, then train heavy again and blow through plateaus. It is sort of like taking 1 step forward, 1 step back, 2 steps forward, 1 step back, and so on.

yeah i've heard that too but as I read, one must be advanced in order to do that, so it takes many years of training... xD
