I think that in a sense, the environment the typical gym fosters is partially to blame for shoulder destruction (and weight lifting obsession in general).
As much as I could already hear the lectures of why lifting THAT much weight is not necessary, I'll just rather say "Nothing puts the muscles more into atrophy than surgery".
Some people have their reasons for lifting super heavy and I can't blame them. There is something to be said for occasionally training with light weight to facilitate recovery, warming up properly, and stretching.
It's always good to mix it up, I love lifting heavy but I don't sweat as much as when I do fast lighter circuits with dumbells so I like to tick both boxes
