What’s Your Benchmark? Using the One Rep Max | Workout Nirvana

A log is a great tool and but you can also use a benchmark to track your progress. It makes sense to use a test – or number – to establish a starting point and measure progress from there. You can do this by finding your one-rep max (1RM). This ensures a certain level of intensity and allows you to progress in a structured fashion.

This should be a staple for anyone wanting to go past "getting into shape". Finding your 1RM by actually doing it or using a 1RM calculator will help determine where you are and how you grow physically and mentally.

I'm constantly amazed at how many people are shit pussy scared of trying their 1RM's, and so reach for that calculator.
