The Low Down on Creatine « ShareitFitness.com

Creatine, known to scientists as methyl guanidine-acetic acid, is an amino acid which is primarily used by your body for energy. Every person’s body has something called a creatine pool. The purpose of taking powder creatine is to increase that creatine pool, thus giving your body a larger source of fuel to perform work, i.e. lift weights.

This is spot on and proves why Creatine is so successful and beneficial when used correctly. Doubters beware!

In talking with a former strength trainer of the New England Patriots, I was told that Creatine usage is starting to display one serious long-term side effect - it permanently dries out tendons and ligaments, which leads to way more tears, strains, and sprains than ever before. Wonder why so many people are destroying their knees and elbows than ever before? Could it be widespread Creatine use?

Personally I think there might be some credibility to that statement, but I think professional athletes use far worse supplements that can also lead to tendon and ligament damage.

Great product which is made in our bodies anyway. As they say in moderation. Overuse in anything is bad for you.
